About Our Organization
SAARATHY-PAMMAC (Parents Association for persons with Mental Retardation, Multiple disabilities, Autism, and Cerebral palsy), a voluntary and a non-profit organization, registered under Societies Act of the Government of Tamilnadu (Reg.No. 59/2001) and affiliated to PARIVAR-NFPA, New Delhi, was established in Coimbatore and has been functioning since December 2000, with the following objectives.
- To bring awareness amongst parents on these disabilities
- To educate parents on the Rehabilitation Process and activities
- To provide adequate information for the parents to make use of the Government Schemes and avail benefits
- To Advocate and lobby with the Government as and when demanded
- To train and find employment opportunities for adults with Mental Retardation and other related developmental disabilities
- To find a practical solution to the mind boggling question of the parents, namely, “After us what? Or Who?”
- To make this world a better place for persons with Mental Retardation, long after our life time
- Formed with just 95 parents in the year 2000, and currently, there are over 325 families under its umbrella
- Legally constituted under the Societies Act of the Government of Tamilnadu
- Has its own By-laws
- Affiliated to the National Federation of Parents Association, namely, PARIVAAR
- Registered Organization under the national Trust Act of the Government of India
- Donations are exempted under 80G of Income Tax
- Registered as a service Provider under Persons with Disabilities Act 1995
- Recognized by the District Administration and has been allotted 2000 sq.ft. land with 1000 sq.ft. building for establishing Employment Training Center, and the same has been doing service since 2009
