  • SAARATHY PAMMAC is actually a Parents Association of persons with Mental Retardation, Multiple disabilities, Autism, and Cerebral palsy. This got formed when the parents of such persons met on October 12, 2000 at KRISH, a Special School for the Intellectually Disabled at Coimbatore.
  • This meeting took place at the behest of Mr.Vijaykant, Chief Operations Manager, PARIVAAR (National Confederation of Parent’s Organizations for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), New Delhi, , who tirelessly worked towards formation of such Parents Association across Tamilnadu.
  • The Correspondents of the three Special Schools in Coimbatore, namely, Smt.Yogavathi narendran of KRISH Special School, Sister Arokiya Mari of STAR Special School, and Smt.S.S.Jayalakshmi of Vidya Vikasini Opportunity School, took the lead in organising the meeting of parents.
  • In that meeting it was decided to form this Association. Mr.K.Narendran, Speech Therapist, coined the name SAARATHY PAMMAC as SAARATHY would mean Guide/Mentor. He also suggested the Logo for the Association in which a Kangaroo is there with its kid, symbolising the way the parents keep with them the Mentally Challenged Children. It was very well drawn by one of the parents, namely, Mrs.Lakshmi Subramaniam who also happens to be a Drawing Teacher. The Slogan for the Association, namely, “Ample Protection for the Mentally Deficient” was coined by Late Prof.S.Vijayaraghavan, TNAU, who had three daughters all of whom were Mentally Challenged!!.
  • The Slogan was very aptly translated in Tamil by Prof.R.Arumuganathan, Dept. of Mathematics and Computer Applications (DOMCA) at PSG Tech, Coimbatore, as “எண்ண இயலாதோர்க்கு எண்ணிலா காப்பு”. A DOMCA Alumnus Mr.C.Venu Babu put all these things together and came up with a useable logo as below:


  • The Founder Members of the Association are shown under ‘Founder Members’. Mr.S.Samarasapandian was the Founder President, Mr.K.Sankararaman was the Founder Secretary, and Mr.Bharath D.Shah, Founder Treasurer. The other Office Bearers at that time were Mrs.Usha Visveswaran, Vice President, Dr.P.Navaneethan, Joint Secretary, and Prof.S.Vijayaraghavan, In-charge of drafting the By-laws of the Association, and he was very well assisted by Late Mr.A.K.Vijayendran.
  • Finally, SAARATHY PAMMAC was registered as a Society at Coimbatore, on 24/12/2000, with 95 members (Reg. No. 59/2001) to start with.

  • சாரதி பேமேக் என்பது மன வளர்ச்சி குறைபாடு, கூட்டு ஊனங்கள், தற்புனைவு ஆழ்வு, மற்றும் மூளை முடக்கு வாதம் ஆகியவற்றால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டோரின் பெற்றோர்களுக்கான அமைப்பாகும். இது 2000ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 12 அன்று கோவை க்ரிஷ் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் பள்ளி வளாகத்தில் கூடிய பெற்றோர்களால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. இதற்கு மூல காரணமாக இருந்தவர் டெல்லியிலுள்ள PARIVAAR அமைப்பின் முதன்மை நிர்வாகியாக இருந்த திரு.விஜய்காந்த் ஆவார். அவர் தமிழ்நாட்டிலுள்ள ஒவ்வொரு மாவட்டங்களிலும் இத்தகைய அமைப்பை உருவாக்க முழு முயற்சிகள் மேற்கொண்டவர்.
  • அச்சமயத்தில் கோவையிலுள்ள மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கான க்ரிஷ் பள்ளி, ஸ்டார் பள்ளி, வித்யாவிகாசினி வாய்ப்புப் பள்ளி ஆகியவற்றின் தாளாளர்களான திருமதி.யோகவதி நரேந்திரன், சிஸ்டர் ஆரோக்யா மேரி, மற்றும் திருமதி.ஜெயலட்சுமி ஆகியோரது முயற்சியால் இப்பெற்றோர்களின் கூட்டத்தை கூட்ட முடிந்தது என்றால் மிகையில்லை.
  • அக்கூட்டத்தில் கோவை அரசு பொது மருத்துவமணையில் Speech Therapist-ஆக இருந்த Dr.நரேந்திரன் அவர்களின் ஆலோசனையின் படி இவ்வமைப்பிற்கு SAARATHY PAMMAC (Parents Association of persons with Mental Retardation, Multiple disabilities, Autism, and Cerebral palsy) என்று பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டது.
  • மேலும் அவர், இப்பெற்றோர்கள் எவ்வாறு தங்களது குழந்தைகளை இணைபிரியாமல் பாதுகாக்கிறார்கள் என்பதனை வெளிப்படுத்தும் முகமாக குட்டியுடன் கூடிய கங்காருவை இவ்வமைப்பின் அடையாளமாக (Logo) இருக்கலாம் என கருத்து தெரிவித்தார். அனைவரும் அதனை ஒருமிதமாக ஆமோதித்தனர். அச்சின்னத்தை பெற்றோர்களில் ஒருவரும் ஓவிய ஆசிரியையுமான திருமதி.இலட்சுமி சுப்பிரமணியம் அவர்கள் வரைய, இவ்வமைப்பின் குரலாக “Ample Protection for the Mentally Deficient” என்று மூன்று மாற்றுத்திறன் கொண்ட குழந்தைகளின் தந்தையான பேராசிரியர் தெய்வத்திரு.விஜயராகவன், தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண் பல்கலைக்கழகம், அவர்கள் வடிவமைத்தார்.
  • இதனை அருமையாக
    “எண்ண இயலாதோர்க்கு எண்ணிலா காப்பு” என்று மொழிபெயர்க்க கோவை பி.எஸ்.ஜி. தொழில்நுட்பக் கல்லூரியின் கணிதம் மற்றும் கணினி பயன்பாட்டியல் (DOMCA) துறையைச் சேர்ந்த பேராசிரியர் முனைவர் இராம.ஆறுமுகநாதன் உதவினார். இம் மூன்றையும் ஒருங்கிணைத்து இவ்வமைப்பின் Emblem அமைய உதவியவர் அக்கல்லூரியைச் சேர்ந்த எம்சிஏ மாணவர் திரு.C.வேணுபாபு ஆவார்.


    • இவ்வமைப்பிற்கு உருவம் கொடுக்க முனைந்த பொறுப்பாளர்கள்:

      அமைப்பின் சட்டதிட்டங்களை முறைப்படுத்துதல் (இவருக்கு மிகவும் உறுதுணையாக இருந்தவர் பெற்றோர்களில் ஒருவரான தெய்வத்திரு.விஜயேந்திரன் அவர்கள்).
    • இந்த சாரதி பேபேக் அமைப்பானது 95 பெற்றோர் உறுப்பினர்களைக் கொண்டு 24/12/2000 அன்று கோவையில் Society ஆக பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டு (பதிவு எண்: 59/2001) உருவமும் உயிரும் பெற்றது!.
